Dominica recently signed a memorandum of understanding with 4 other Caribbean countries that offer citizenship by investment. Most notably Dominica established a new minimum price of US$200,000 in the country’s Economic Development Fund (EDF). For a family of 4 the costs are US$250,000 with any additional dependent under 18 to be added at a cost of US$25,000 and for those over 18 an additional US$40,000.
The minimum investment for real estate remains unchanged at US$200,000 although there are new government fees attached to the real estate investment which are as follows:
- $75,000 for you as a solo applicant
- $100,000 for you and up to 3 qualifying dependants
- $25,000 for every extra dependant under 18
- $40,000 for each additional dependant over 18
Due Diligence fees remain unchanged at US$7,500 for the main applicant and US$4,000 for dependents over the age of 16. There continue to be processing fees of US$1,000 per application and an interview fee of US$1,000. The cost for the Certificate of Naturalization remains fixed at US$500 per applicant.
With these changes Dominica still remains a great option for those seeking an alternative citizenship. With Dominica citizenship you have increased global mobility, ability to live and work in the OECS Caribbean countries and be a citizen of a safe and secure country among other advantages.
