The process of purchasing a property in St.Barts is relatively straightforward. Here is a quick breakdown of the key elements that you will need to consider when buying a property on this beautiful Caribbean island.
1. Legal Assistance
As part of the real estate transaction, it is essential to engage a local notary. The notary will do due diligence as well as the title transfer. The fees are generally around 5-6% of the property’s value.
2. No restriction on Foreign Ownership
There is no restriction on foreign ownership in St.Barts. International buyers can purchase real estate in their name or alternatively what is often recommended is to purchase real estate through a society.
3. Financing Options
Financing options are available through local or international banks, however, it is often easier to secure financing from your home country, so make sure you take the time to research which is the best financial route to ensure you secure your dream property.
